29 CFR 1926.403(b)(2): Listed, labeled, or certified equipment was not installed and used in accordance with instructions included in the listing, labeling, or certification: (a)Bridge Abutment #2: The employer was using unprotected Type NM-B (nonmetallic sheathed) cable to provide temporary power to the work site. Approximately 200 feet of the NM-B cable was ran through trees and under an existing bridge to provide power to a Milwaukee circular saw and water pumps, as observed on July 23, 2012. (b)Bridge Abutment #2: The employer was using a 120 volt duplex electrical outlet box that was designed to be used as a mounted outlet box at the end of a NM cable to provide temporary power to the work site. The outlet box was being used outdoors and not equipped with a cover to power a Milwaukee circular saw and water pumps, as observed on July 23, 2012. Abatement Note: NFPA 70-National Electric Code (NEC) specifies locations where outlet boxes can be installed under Section 210.52-63. NFPA 70-NEC specifies that NM cable shall be installed in dwellings and not permitted to be installed in wet locations under Section 334.10. Abatement Certification Required for this Item.
