OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employee was exposed to hazards associated with the improper storage of a boat on boat stands: Standish Boat Yard Inc: On July 23. 2012 the employer used boat stands to support the weight of a 26 ft regulator boat equipped with two 250 hp yamaha motors. An employee was working under the boat painting the bottom. The boat stands tipped allowing the boat to fall on top of the employee working under the boat. Industry practice is to support the weight of the boat on wooden blocks placed under the keel of the boat and the stands are to stabilize and balance the boat on the wood blocks. .
