East side of building - the use of eye protection was not enforced during welding operations. A welders helper was holding a stanchion as arc welding was conducted at the edge of a deck where the fall height was 22 ft. Violation observed on or about 07/27/12.

29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level was not protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems, or fall restraint systems: a. East side of building - employees were exposed to a 22 ft fall hazard, in that, the use of fall protection was not enforced while employees installed stanchions and caution tape along the edge of the building. Violation observed on or about 07/27/12.
