29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4):      Work rests on grinding machinery were not adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one-eighth inch:       a) Workplace, Lettering Room:  Employees used a Craftsman bench grinder to sharpen tools.  The distance between the wheels and the work rests were measured at approximately 1/2 inch on the right side and at 1 inch on the left side;  on or about 7/27/12.    b) Worplace, Lettering Room: Employees used a Delta bench grinder to sharpen tools. The distance between the wheel and the work rest was measured at approximately 1 1/4 inches on the right side; on or about 7/27/12.      Note: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1910.215 (b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch:    a) Workplace, Lettering Room: Employees used Craftman bench grinder to sharpen tools.  The opening between the wheel and the adjustable tongue was measured at approximately at 1inch on the left side and 1 1/2 inches on the right side; on or about 7/27/12.        b) Workplace, Lettering Room: Employees use Delta bench grinder to sharpen tools. The opening between the wheel and the adjustable tongue was measured at 1 inch on the right side; on or about 7/27/12.      Note: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
