29 CFR 1926.200(g)(2): Traffic control signs or devices used for protection of construction workers did not conform to Part VI of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), 1988 Edition, Revision 3, September 3, 1993, FHWA-SA-94-027 or Part VI of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Millenium Edition, December 2000, FHWA. Route 1A Work Zone - The southbound lane closure which channelized traffic into the northbound passing lane did not have the appropriate signage to warn approaching traffic as to the hazards they were approaching, in that the signs stated (1) Utility Work Ahead, (2) Men Working, and (3) Flagger Image. Appropriate signage would have been (northbound) (1) Utility Work Ahead, (2) Left Lane Closed Ahead, (3) Merge Symbol, and (southbound) (1) Utility Work Ahead, (2) Right Lane Closed Ahead (3) Merge Left.
