29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: (a) Press area- The employer did not provide and/or enforce the use of adequate gloves to prevent contact with methylene chloride, a component of Superstrip which is used to clean printing plates/tools. The material safety data sheet (MSDS) for Superstrip recommends the use of impervious gloves such as neoprene, butyl or 4H laminate gloves; the employee was wearing Correct Touch latex gloves while using the Superstrip cleaner. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
