29 CFR 1910.178(g)(2): Battery changing and charging installations for industrial trucks were not provided with facilities for flushing and neutralizing spilled electrolyte: (a)(LOCATION)(IDENTIFY SPECIFIC OPERATIONS AND/OR CONDITIONS)(DESCRIBE HAZARDS WHERE NECESSARY) The employer is failing to protect employees from potential chemical hazards associated with failing to provide employees with adequate eye wash facility while they maintain the batteries on company forklifts. This was most recently evident during the inspection of warehouse located at 10117 I Street, Omaha, NE 68127, where the employer has employees performing battery maintenance whereby they are adding water to forklift batteries and the nearest eyewash station is over 100 feet way through several aisles.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle. The employer is failing to protect employees from potential amputation hazards associated with operating machinery where the employer is not adequately guarding the point of operation. This was most recently evident during the inspection of facility #1 located at 10117 I Street, Omaha, NE 68127, where the employer has exposed employees operating the Westward 15 drill press to drill holes out of the plastic forms the produce on press #9 without using any type of guard or barrier to separate themselves from the point of operation.
