29 CFR 1926.451(e)(1): When scaffold platforms are more than 2 feet (0.6 m) above or below a point of access, portable ladders, hook-on ladders, attachable ladders, stair towers (scaffold stairways/towers), stairway-type ladders (such as ladder stands), ramps, walkways, integral prefabricated scaffold access, or direct access from another scaffold, structure, personnel hoist, or similar surface shall be used. Crossbraces shall not be used as a means of access. a) At the worksite, the employer did not ensure that employees not use crossbracing to access/exit outrigger platform to perform masory task, thereby exposing employees to an approximate 18 foot fall hazard. 29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1): Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet (3.1 m) above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level. Paragraphs (g)(1)(i) through (vii) of this section establish the types of fall protection to be provided to the employees on each type of scaffold. Paragraph (g)(2) of this section addresses fall protection for scaffold erectors and dismantlers. a) An employee was working from a tubular welded frame scaffold outrigger platform more than 10 feet above the ground level without adequate fall protection. The employer did not ensure that midrailling was provided, thereby exposing the employee to an approximate 18 foot fall hazard. Buckner & Sons Masonry, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its Equivalent Standard 29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1), which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 63223, Citation Number 1, Item Number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on August 08, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 935-951 North High Street, The Wood Building, Columbus, OH 43215.
