29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: a) Eye Wash Facilities - Employees were performing servicing on batteries that contain corrosive material in proximity to a fixed eyewash station that had not received weekly function checks for a period of nearly seven months which would identify the improper flow, pressure, or unit sanitation which would ensure its immediate emergency use, on or about 8/21/12. ABATEMENT NOTE: Eyewashes must be inspected per the intervals required by ANSI Z.358-1 - 2004, Eyewash and Shower Equipment, which under section 6.5.2 states "Plumbed equipment shall be activated weekly for a period long enough to verify operation and ensure that flushing fluid is available."
