29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: Jobsite located at 2236 W. 18th St. N., Wichita, KS; Employees using portable extension ladders to access the working surface of the roof were exposed to fall hazards in that the siderails of the ladders extended less than 3 feet above the landing surface of the roof in the following locations: a) At the garage at the front of the house, siderails extended approximately 6 inches. b) Near the front door, siderails extended approximately 18 inches.
