29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit routes were not continuously maintained free of obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency: a) Pier 1 Imports - Staten Island, NY -Stock Room/Back Room Area: The emergency exit route was blocked by storage material preventing free access to the exit: 1) Access to Exit door in the stock room was blocked by boxes filled with merchandise. 2) Access to Exit door in the back room by chemical storage was blocked by merchandise stored in the hallway in addition to the shovel and a vacuum stored in front of the exit door. Condition observed on or about September 21, 2012. Pier 1 Imports, was previously cited for violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standards, 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3) which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 315486498, Citation # 1, Item #1, and was affirmed as a final order on May 20, 2011, with respect to the workplace located at 145 Great Road, Acton, MA 01720.

Pier 1 Imports, was previously cited for violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standards, 29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1)(ii) which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 315486498, Citation # 1, Item #2, and was affirmed as a final order on May 20, 2011, with respect to the workplace located at 145 Great Road, Acton, MA 01720.
