29 CFR 1910.1025(e)(1)(i): For any employees exposed to lead above the permissible exposure limit, for more than 30 days per year, the employer did not implement engineering and work practice controls (including administrative controls) to reduce and maintain employee exposure to lead below the permissible exposure limit (PEL): a) Weekly cleaning of the Melt Room floor by employee(s) using broom & sweeping compound was monitored for airborne exposure concentration to Lead (Pb) dust during the 45 mins the job was performed. Assuming zero exposure for the unsampled portion of the shift (435 mins), the adjusted 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA) exposure of the sampled employee was 245 micrograms per cubic meter of air; 490% the OSHA permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 micrograms per cubic meter as an 8-hour TWA. Condition(s) were noted on or about February 21, 2013. NOTE: Feasible work practice controls not implemented include, but are not necessarily limited to, use of squeegee with wetting agent on floor of Melt Room and HEPA vacuuming.
