29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1):     Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with CFR 1926.652(c):    On or about September 20, 2012, at the Elysian Apartments Construction Site, the employer allowed two employees of Milton J. Womack, Inc. to enter an excavation to install framework to support a concrete foundation. The employees were exposed to vertical earthen walls approximately 7 ft deep from grade. No protective system was in-place to protect the employees from a potential struck-by from the earthen walls.
