29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle.    Four lathes at the River Cities Machine shop did not have guards attached to protect employees from the rotating chuck.    a) On or about 09/12/2012, the Yamazaki lathe, at the Southwest side of the River Cities Machine Shop, did not have a guard attached to protect the employees from the rotating chuck.     b) On or about 09/12/2012, on the Northwest side of the shop, a large heavy duty model MAZAK, horizontal metal working lathe manufactured by Yamazaki Machinery Works, LTD did not have a guard attached to protect the employees from the rotating chuck.     c) On or about 09/12/2012, on the Southeast side of the shop, a small high duty horizontal metal working lathe manufactured by American Tool Works Company did not have a guard attached to protect the employees from the rotating chuck.     d) On or about 09/12/2012, on the Northeast side of the shop, a small high duty horizontal metal working lathe manufactured by American Tool Works Company did not have a guard attached to protect the employees from the rotating chuck.
