29 CFR 1910.22(a)(2): Where wet processes were used, drainage was not maintained, and false floors, platforms, mats, or other dry standing places were not provided when practicable: (a) There was sauerkraut and water on the floors on and near the glass and can filler machines in the filler area of the warehouse, causing the floors to be wet and slippery. (b) The pumps inside the gutters had stopped working not allowing the liquid from the sauerkraut to be drained into the gutters. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazard(s) created by: (a) The piston that moves the rotating parts in the glass filler machine that is in the filler area in the warehouse. On September 6, 2012 an employee got his/her thumb amputated and degloved while the glass filler machine was running. The glass doors that cover the rotating parts in the glass filler machine are opened while the machine is running. Employees are working in front of or cleaning the machine while the machines are turned on and exposed to the rotating parts. (b) The piston that moves the rotating parts in the 2 can filler machines that are in the filler area in the warehouse. The glass doors that cover the rotating parts in the glass filler machine are opened while the machine is running. Employees are working in front of or cleaning the machine while the machines are turned on and exposed to the rotating parts. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.
