29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):     One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:      On or about October 9, 2012, and at times prior thereto, at the trash compactor area employees were observed operating a trash compactor which was not provided with either an interlocking device or a dead-man switch device which is used to prevent employees from entering inside the trash compactor while it is in operation.  Employees were exposed to the hazards of being crushed by the machine.
