29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladders shall be used only for the purpose for which they were designed. a. On or about October 09, 2012, at the above addressed jobsite, an employee was installing downspouts from an extension ladder that was not used as designed, in that, the employee had to place one foot on a fence to perform the work. The ladder was placed in a manner that only allowed the employee to have one foot on the ladder rung, thereby exposing the employee to falls of approximately six (6) feet.
