29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, and flying chips. Employees operated a Vermeer BC 1000XL Brush Chipper without its in-feed curtain while performing brush clearing at this job site. The employees were exposed to being struck by flying chips.

29 CFR 1910.132(e): Defective or damaged personal protective equipment was used. Employees using a Vermeer BC 1000XL Brush Chipper machine used damaged hand gloves and sunglasses for personal protective equipment. The handl gloves were torn and deteriorated and the sunglasses were not approved eye protection.
