29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. At the job site, 106 Main, Westmoreland, Kansas, employees were doing masonry work near a north exterior wall edge without a fall protection system in place. Employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 9 feet to the ground below.

29 CFR 1926.701(b): All protruding reinforcing steel, onto and/or into which employees could fall or come against, was not guarded to eliminate the hazard of impalement: At the job site, 106 Main, Westmoreland, Kansas, employees were doing masonry working near a wall edge with the ends of reinforced steel rebar not protected. Employees were exposed to cuts and impalement hazards from reinforced steel rebar protruding up from the floor area.
