29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above lower levels was not protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: The employer does not provide fall protection during roof decking work. This violation was observed on or about November 13, 2012, on the newly construction of a daycare center where employees were exposed to a fall hazard when installing roof shingles 15 feet above the ground without fall protection. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that employees engaged in roofing construction activities 6 feet or more above the lower levels are protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system.
