Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. On or about 11-13-12 at 64 South Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL, 33004, an employee was working on the edge of a building canopy and was not wearing any personal fall protection and was exposed to falls of approximately 10 feet 2 inches to the ground.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1): The employer shall provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards. The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards. On or about 11-13-12 at 64 South Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL, 33004, an employee was not knowledgeable in recognizing fall hazards while working on the edge of a building canopy. The employee was exposed to falls of approximately 10 feet 2 inches to the ground. NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION
