29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use [ANSIZ358.1-2004]: On or about 11/15/12, at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Resort, St. Thomas, VI. An emergency eye wash station was not provided in the immediate area when employees used and/or handled corrosive products as follows: a. At the Aquaterra bar area. Employees used and/or handled Ecolab corrosive products such as Eco-San (sodium hypochlorite) and Super trump (sodium hydroxide) during dishwashing operations. b. At the main kitchen area. Employees used and/or handled Ecolab corrosive products such as Oasis 146 multi-quat sanitizer (dicapryl/dicaprylyl dimonium chloride and benzalkonium chloride) and Oasis pro 10 heavy duty all-purpose degreaser cleaner (9-octadecenoic acid) during dishwashing operations. c. At the Sunset Grill & Bar. Employees used and/or handled Ecolab corrosive products such as Oasis 146 multi-quat sanitizer (dicapryl/dicaprylyl dimonium chloride and benzalkonium chloride) and Lime-a-way (uronium hydrogen sulphate) during dishwashing operations. d. At the pools pump areas (main, family, kids, and spa pools). Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Alliance Trading Pool Logic 3 tabs (sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione) and Alliance Trading E-Z Clor tabs (Trichloro-s- triazinetrione) during pool maintenance operations. e. At the main building laundry area. Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Oxy-Brite (hydrogen peroxide solution); Builder C (sodium hydroxide); Sour Control (phosphoric acid); Eco-Star Destainer (sodium hypochlorite) during laundry operations. f. At the main building housekeeping area. Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Ecolab Stain Blaster G (potassium hydroxide); Ecolab Stain Blaster R (oxalic acid);Oasis pro 41 glass cleaner (sodium hydroxide); Oasis Pro 14 antibacterial all purpose cleaner (ammonium compounds); and Oasis pro 63 alkaline (didecyldimonium chloride) during housekeeping operations. g. At the Morning Star laundry area. Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Ecolab Oasis Pro 41 glass cleaner (sodium hydroxide); Oasis Pro 14 antibacterial all purpose cleaner (ammonium compounds); and Oasis pro 63 alkaline (didecyldimonium chloride) during housekeeping operations. h. At the Coco Joes Rest. kitchen area. Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Oasis 146 multi-quat sanitizer (dicapryl/dicaprylyl dimonium chloride benzalkonium chloride) and Oasis pro 10 heavy duty all-purpose degreaser cleaner [9-octadecenoic acid (z)-, compd. with 2-aminoethanol (1:1)] during dishwashing and kitchen maintenance operations. i. At the reverse osmosis (RO) plant area. Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Muriatic acid; Nalco 8735; pH stabilizer (sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide); Nalco 7390 corrosion inhibitor (phosphoric acid) and Aqua Guard Chlorinating Sanitizer (Sodium Hypochlorite) during water cisterns operations. NOTE 1: Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c). NOTE 2: Certification of abatement is not required for instance (i) since it was submitted prior to citation issuance.

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met: On or about 11/15/12, at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Resort, St. Thomas, VI. The employer did not implement their written hazard communication program to ensure having material safety data sheets available for products used and/or handled by employees during the following operations: a. At the Aquaterra bar area. Employees used and/or handled compressed gases such as carbon dioxide UN1013 during storage and replacement of empty tanks operations. b. At the main kitchen area. Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Oasis 146 multi-quat sanitizer (dicapryl/dicaprylyl dimonium chloride benzalkonium chloride) and wash-n-walk rinse-free floor cleaner (ethoxylated alcohol) during dishwashing operations. c. At the Sunset Grill & Bar. Employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as Oasis 146 multi-quat sanitizer (dicapryl/dicaprylyl dimonium chloride benzalkonium chloride) and lime-a-way (uronium hydrogen sulphate) during dishwashing operations. d. At the pools pump areas (main, family, kids, and spa pools). Employees used and/or handled products such as Praxair compressed gases: oxygen, acetylene, nitrogen and refrigerants (chlorodifluoromethane) such as Arkema Forane R-22 (chlorodifluoromethane); National R-22; 410-A (difluoromethane and pentafluoroethane); and 134-A (1,1,1,2 tetrafluoroethane) during air conditioning maintenance operations. f. At the Coco Joe's Rest. kitchen area. Employees used and/or products such as Oasis Compac 22 Quat Sanitizer (quaternary ammonium compounds) during dishwashing operations. g. At the reverse osmosis (RO) plant area.
