29 CFR 1910.178(g)(2): Battery charging apparatus for industrial trucks located in battery changing and charging installation was not protected from damage by trucks:(a)(LOCATION)(IDENTIFY SPECIFIC OPERATIONS AND/OR CONDITIONS)(DESCRIBE HAZARDS WHERE NECESSARY) The employer is failing to protect employees from potential electrical hazards associated with having the battery charging station located in a position where it is not protected against accidental damage from forklifts. This was most recently evident during the inspection of warehouse located at 5050 F Street, Omaha, NE 68117, where the employer has the battery charging station sitting on the floor between two loading dock doors, unprotected from accidental damage as a result of being struck from forklifts operating in the immediate area.

This was most recently evident during the inspection of facility located at 5050 F Street, Omaha, NE 68117, where the employer is using an extension cord as a permanent method of providing power to a label maker thus exposing the wiring not designed for consistent use to excessive wear and tear. Instances include but are not limited to: i. Running the cord from an outlet located on the other side of a doorway by laying the cord under a rug in front of an exit door.
