29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open-sided floors and/or platforms four feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded with standard railings (or equivalent) and toeboards:Note: Toeboards are only required when persons can pass, there is moving equipment or there is equipment with which falling materials could create a hazard. a) On, or at dates prior to, November 29, 2012, maintenance employees were exposed to a fall hazard because a gap existed between the work platform of furnace #902 and the fixed ladder which provided access to the area. No runway, toeboads, or standard railings were installed where piping and components were placed. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose.
