A zero exposure was assumed for the 45 minutes not sampled. Engineering controls and work practice were not instituted to reduce levels below the permissible exposure limit. b.) Paint Shop, Grinding/sanding Area - An employee, grinding/sanding on helicopter parts was exposed to 0.006 milligrams per cubic meter as an eight hour time weighted average (TWA). 29 CFR 1910.1026(h)(1): A hazard was present or was likely to be present from skin or eye contact with chromium (VI); however, the employer did not provide appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment at no cost to employees, and/or did not ensure that employees used such clothing and equipment: a) Paint Shop, Grinding/Sanding Area - An employee, grinding/sanding on helicopter parts was exposed to 0.0068 milligrams per cubic meter as an eight hour time weighted average (TWA). This level is 1.4 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 milligrams per cubic meter. On January 24, 2013, the employee was observed performing this activity while not wearing personal protective clothing. b) Paint Shop, Grinding/Sanding Area - An employee, grinding/sanding on helicopter parts was exposed to 0.006 milligrams per cubic meter as an eight hour time weighted average (TWA). This level is 1.2 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 milligrams per cubic meter. On January 24, 2013, the employee was observed performing this activity while not wearing personal protective clothing.

Paint shop, Spray Room - An employee, spray painter, painting a helicopter was exposed to 0.077 milligrams per cubic meter as an eight hour time weighted average (TWA). This level is 15.4 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 milligrams per cubic meter. This exposure was observed occurring over a 433 minute sampling period on January 25, 2013. A zero exposure was assumed for the 47 minutes not sampled and medical surveillance was not provided. b.) Paint shop, Spray Room - An employee, spray painter, painting a helicopter was exposed to 0.028 milligrams per cubic meter as an eight hour time weighted average (TWA). This level is 5.6 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 milligrams per cubic meter. This exposure was observed occurring over a 441 minute sampling period on January 25, 2013. A zero exposure was assumed for the 39 minutes not sampled and medical surveillance was not provided. c.) Paint shop, Grinding /Sanding Area - An employee, grinding/sanding on helicopter parts was exposed to 0.0072 milligrams per cubic meter as an eight hour time weighted average (TWA). This level is 1.4 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 milligrams per cubic meter. This exposure was observed occurring over a 454 minute sampling period on January 25, 2013. A zero exposure was assumed for the 26 minutes not sampled and medical surveillance was not provided. d.) Paint shop, Grinding /Sanding Area - An employee, grinding/sanding on helicopter parts was exposed to 0.006 milligrams per cubic meter as an eight hour time weighted average (TWA). This level is 1.2 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 milligrams per cubic meter. This exposure was observed occurring over a 454 minute sampling period on January 25, 2013. A zero exposure was assumed for the 26 minutes not sampled and medical surveillance was not provided.
