29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Employee(s) operating the 3/4 horsepower Ellis horizontal band saw at 1,725 revolutions per minute in the Cutting Department were exposed to amputation hazards due to the current guard not preventing employee exposure to approximately 6 inches of rotating blade on the right side of the machine. (b) Employee(s) operating the Okuma LB25 at 750 revolutions per minute in the Lathe Department were exposed to amputation hazards due to no guard being provided for a rotating spindle within a 12 inch by 12 inch opening on the left side of the machine.
