29 CFR 1926.652(g)(2): Excavations of earth material to a level no greater than 2 feet (.61m) below the bottom of a shield was permitted: a) Construction site, East Butler Avenue - On or about January 10, 2013, employees entered a trench for a sanitary sewer installation with a GME aluminum trench shield installed in a manner that it did not extend to within 2 feet of the bottom of the excavation, allowing a potential for loss of soil from below the bottom of the trench shield.
