29 CFR 1910.107(c)(2):     Open flame or spark producing equipment was not kept from a spraying area nor within 20 feet, unless separated from by a partition:    a. In the paint building, where spray painting of flammable liquids was conducted, non-explosion proof electrical wiring and components, such as, but not limited to, 120 V outlets and switches, and an electric refrigerator, were within 10 feet of parts sprayed.    Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation.  The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful.  The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citation(s).

29 CFR 1910.107(c)(6):     Electrical wiring and equipment not subject to deposits of combustible residues but located in a spraying area as herein defined (within 20 ft) were not explosion-proof type approved for Class I, group D locations and did not otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part, for Class I, Division 1, Hazardous Locations:    a. In the paint building, where spray painting of flammable liquids was conducted, non-explosion proof electrical wiring and components, such as, but not limited to, 120 V outlets and switches, and an electric refrigerator, were within 10 feet of parts sprayed.    Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. In the paint building, where spray painting of flammable liquids was conducted in spray rooms with non-explosion proof electrical wiring and components, such as, but not limited to, 120 V outlets and switches, and an electric refrigerator, containers of small amounts of flammable liquid were left to evaporate; an explosion hazard existed because of the contribution of a flammable atmosphere from the evaporation being ignited by the electrical spark producing equipment.    Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation.  The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful.  The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citation(s).

29 CFR 1910.1200(h):     Employees were not provided effective information and training as specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1) and (2) on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard was introduced:    a. In the paint building, where spray painting of flammable liquids was conducted, and where non-explosion proof electrical wiring and components, such as 120 V outlets and switches, and an electric refrigerator, were within 10 feet of parts sprayed, an employee was not provided chemical hazard communication training which would include the physical hazards of chemicals such as, but not limited, explosion and fire hazards (note: comprehensive training would include both physical and health hazards, training on material safety data sheets including the more commonly used products, labeling, and non-routine tasks that might present a hazard).    Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation.  The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. A spray painter, using a half mask, cartridge respirator was not fit tested before being allowed to spray paint.
