29 CFR 1926.351(e): Arc welding or cutting operation(s) were not shielded by noncombustible or flame proof screens to protect employees and other persons working in the vicinity from the direct rays of the arc: (a) Sorrento Lactalis, Fresh Mozzarella Plant, on or about January 11, 2013, and at times prior thereto, as the controlling and correcting employer, supervised contract employees were not protected from arc flashes from TIG welding being done on stainless piping without any portable shields or screening. Note: Abatement certification is required for this item.

29 CFR 1926.353(d)(1)(iii): Welders and other employees exposed to radiation from inert gas metal arc welding were not suitably protected by completely covering the skin to prevent burns and other damage by ultraviolet rays: (a) Sorrento Lactalis, Fresh Mozzarella Plant, on or about January 11, 2013, and at times prior thereto, as the controlling and correcting employer, supervised contract employees were TIG welding on stainless process piping with bare arms exposed to the welding arc. (b) Sorrento Lactalis, Fresh Mozzarella Plant, on or about January 11, 2013, and at times prior thereto, as the controlling and correcting employer, supervised contract employees were TIG welding on stainless process piping with bare hands exposed to the welding arc. (c) Sorrento Lactalis, Fresh Mozzarella Plant, on or about January 31, 2013, and at times prior thereto, employees were TIG welding on stainless process piping with bare hands exposed to the welding arc. Note: Abatement certification is required for this item.
