The nylon fabricated slings were torn and cut .

29 CFR 1910.184(e)(3)(i): A thorough periodic inspection of alloy steel chain slings was not made on a regular basis and/or were done at intervals greater than once every 12 months: On or about 2/7/2013, in the fab shop, the employer allowed employees to use chain slings that were lasr inspected in 2010. The chain slings are used to lift metal parts.

29 CFR 1910.179(j)(1)(ii): Inspection procedure for cranes in regular service is divided into two general classifications based upon the intervals at which inspection should be performed. The intervals in turn are dependent upon the nature of the critical components of the crane and the degree of their exposure to wear, deterioration, or malfunction. The two general classifications are herein designated as "frequent" and "periodic" with respective intervals between inspections as defined below: On or about 2/7/2013, in the shop area, the employer failed to conduct the required frequent and periodic crane inspections on the 5 ton and 10 ton cranes.
