29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv): Unless specifically permitted otherwise in paragraph (g)(1)(ii) of this section, flexible cords and cables may not be used as a substitute for the fixed wiring or allowed to run through holes in walls, ceilings or floors: a) This violation occurred on February 7, 2013 on the vessel FV Knowledge at the Honolulu Dock where a black electrical extension cord was used as the power source for the water dispenser and it was spliced to another extension cord (white) running to the power tap which was mounted on a pole in the area. The spliced black and white extension cord was used as a substitute for fixed wiring. b) This violation occurred on February 7, 2013 on the vessel FV Knowledge at the Honolulu Dock where an orange electrical cord was used as the power source for the main zoom lights above the aft housing. The orange cord ran from the aft housing through the ceiling to the zoom lights on the roof and was spliced out in the open on the roof.
