Worksite located at 308 SE Douglas, Lee's Summit, Missouri- Employees were exposed to a fall hazard in that employees were misusing step ladders in that the step ladders were leaned against the beams with the spreader bars closed. 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper level landing surface and the ladders length did not allow the ladder side rails to extend at least 3 feet (0.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed, the ladder was not secured at its top to a rigied support that will not deflect, and/or a grasping device was not provided to assist emmployees in mounting and dismounting the ladder: (a). Worksite located at 308 SE Douglas, Lee's Summit, Missouri- Employees were exposed to fall hazards in that multiple ladders being used to access multiple stories did not extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface, nor was there a grabrail present. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM.
