29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(C): Flexible cords and cables were used where run through doorways, windows, or similar openings: On or about February 14, 2013, employees were working on Rig #434. The electrical cord coming out of the electrical unit was run through a metal door and was being pinched. The cord was used to power the VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) Unit which is used for their intercom system at 120V. Employees were exposed to potential electric shock and/or burn hazards.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(ii): Flexible cords were not used only in continuous lengths without splice or tap: On or about February 14, 2013, employees were working on Rig #434. The electrical cord coming out of the electrical unit which was used to power the VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) Unit, which is used for their intercom system at 120V, was not of continuous length, it had been spliced. Employees were exposed to potential electric shock and/or burn hazards.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(iii): Flexible cords and cables were not connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief was provided that would prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws: On or about February 14, 2013, employees were working on Rig #434. An electrical box outside the crew trailer had a cord which had a damaged strain relief. This condition exposed employees to potential electrical hazards.
