29 CFR 1926.200(g)(1): The employer did not provide traffic safety signage to protect employees from being struck by vehicular traffic: Location: 185 W Houston Street at the corner of 6th Avenue, New York, N.Y. On or about 12-07-2012 a) Employees were exposed to being struck by moving traffic. Two employees were repairing a sidewalk canopy when the employers truck work activities were extending partway into the traffic lane. No traffic safety measures were provided, such as: - positioning work activities to a safer location - having employees wear high visibility vests - use trucks warning flashers - use traffic control devices such as high visibility cones, triangles, barrels - use of a flagman Abatement note: Traffic safety measures and traffic control device information can be found in US DOT Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices MUTCD, 2009, Chapter 6; at www.osha.gov, search MUTCD.
