Or or about 2/20/13, on site, in the lab room of the marketing building, employees are dispensing nail polish and acetone directly from 5 gallon drums into plastic cups or glass beakers. The nail polish and acetone are a class 1B flammable liquid.

On or about 2/20/13, on site, in the lab room of the marketing building, employees using cloths dipped in acetone to clean workspace and spills. The employer did not provide a flammable waste container.

The employer did not implement a respiratory protection program to include a medical evaluation, fit testing, and training.  Verla International, Ltd. was previosuly cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.134(c), which was contained in OSHA inspection number #488939, citation number 1, item number 2-b, and was affirmed as a final order on 01/03/2013, with respect to a workplace located at 463 Temple Hill Road, New Windsor, NY 12553.

The nail polish contains chemicals, such as, but not limited to, n-ethyl o/p toluene, ethyl acetate and butyl acetate.
