29 CFR 1926.652(c): Designs of support systems, shield systems, and other protective systems were not selected and constructed by the employer or his designee and were not be in accordance with the requirements of paragraph (c)(1); or, in the alternative, paragraph (c)(2); or, in the alternative, paragraph (c)(3); or, i the alternative, paragraph (c)(4) as follows: At this excavation site, employees worked within a plywood box designed to protect the employees against the hazards of a cave-in. The box was not designed and constructed in accordance with a registered, professional engineer's certification that it would adequately protect employees in the event of a cave-in.
