Condition noted on or about 03/05/2013 Abatement note: To be a "Competent Person" under this standard, a person must possess training in, and be knowledgeable about, soil analysis, the use of protective systems and the requirements of this standard.

29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(c). The employer had not complied with the provisions of 29 CFR 1926.652(b)(1)(i) in that the excavation was sloped at an angle steeper than one and one-half horizontal to one vertical (34 Degrees measured from the Horizontal): a-Valley Boulevard & Wood Ridge Ave, Wood Ridge: Employees engaged in concrete form installation while working in an unprotected excavation approximately 12' depth were exposed to cave-in hazards as a protective system was not present. Condition noted on or about 03/05/2013
