29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(i): Engineering and work practice controls were not used to eliminate or minimize employees exposure: a) Exam Rooms: Employees (Physicians) administered injections with non-safety engineered syringes such as the Terumo 3cc syringe with a 21G x 1 1/2 inch needle potentially exposing employees to bloodborne pathogens. The employer did not ensure that safety engineered syringes or needles were used to administer injections. On or about February 13, 2013. b) Exam Rooms: Employees (Technicians) collected contaminated, non-safety engineered syringes from trays and disposed of them in sharps containers potentially exposing employees to bloodborne pathogens. The employer did not ensure that safety engineered syringes or needles were used to prevent exposure upon disposal. On or about February 13, 2013.
