OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees.    Location:  Brewery    Employees access dispensing tank access points by standing on kegs.  The kegs are not a stable or even working surface and their inadequacy may have contributed to an acid splash accident that occurred on or about March 10, 2013.    A feasible and useful method of abatement, among other methods, is to use a rolling ladder to access the dispensing tank access ports.

Location: Brewery    Personal protective equipment was inadequate to protect employees from skin contact with corrosive chemicals used to clean vessels such as serving tanks.  An employee suffered an acid splash to his eyes when pouring acid cleaner on or about March 10, 2013.

Location A:  chemical storage room    Location B:  Brewery    The Brewery has an emergency eye wash facility, but no emergency shower.  The Chemical Storage Room has neither.  Corrosive materials are handled in both locations.      SLESAR BROS. BREWING COMPANY, INC. WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 1910.151 (c), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 315053330, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM 2, ISSUED ON MARCH 28, 2011 WITH A FINAL ORDER DATE OF APRIL 12, 2011.
