Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: Location: canopy On or about: 3/11/13 a) Employees, replacing heat detectors on the fire suppression system, were not provided with fall protection. The employees were exposed to a fall of 16 feet 5 inches. NOTE: Because abatement of this violation is already documented in the inspection casefile, the employer need not submit certification or documentation of abatement for this violation as normally required by 29 CFR 1903.19.

The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards: Location: canopy On or about: 3/11/13 a) Employees, exposed to a fall hazard while replacing heat detectors on the fire suppression system, were not provided with fall protection training. NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
