29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(vii)(A):   Contaminated needles and other contaminated sharps were bent, recapped, or removed:  On or about March 27, 2013, employees were exposed to bloodborne pathogens from needlesticks while disposing of sharps that had been bent, used (contaminated), and then recapped during administration of anesthetic. The employer failed to use engineering controls or work practices that would eliminate or minimize employee exposures; among other controls, self-sheathing needles and no-hand procedures in handling contaminated sharps should be implemented.  Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
