An assessment of anticipated exposure(s) and planning of control measures was not performed by a competent person prior to initiation of work which presented hazard of asbestos exposure.    Condition(s) were noted on or about 3/28/2013.

The employer did not provide and require the use of protective clothing, such as coveralls or similar whole-body clothing, head coverings, gloves, and foot coverings for any employee exposed to airborne concentrations of asbestos that exceed the TWA and/or excursion limit prescribed in paragraph (c) of this section, or for which a required negative exposure assessment is not produced, or for any employee performing Class I operations which involve the removal of over 25 linear or 10 square feet of TSI or surfacing ACM and PACM:  a) Employee(s) of Sodano Contracting removed existing transite shingles containing 10% Chrysotile asbestos from the exterior of a single-family home at 8 Andrew Street in Old Bridge NJ in preparation for installation of new vinyl siding.  Where a negative exposure assessment had not been made, protective clothing such as coveralls was not provided nor required by the employer to prevent contamination of employee from airborne fibers.
