29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  (a) CNC / Milling Area - The sliding barrirer on the CNC latheTakisawa TW-30 (774) and the Nakamura-Tome Precision turning machine would not prevent entry of hands into the point of operation.  The machines were not equipped with interlock devices to stop the machines from operating while the door was opened.  (b) Lathe Area - The Republic metal lathe and the Mazak-Ace metal lathe was not equipped with an enclosure guard for the rotating chuck and a chip guard to contain flying chips or sparks.    (c) Shop Area - Stock Material/Fabrication Area - The Delta horizontal belt sander was not provided with guards at each nip point where the sanding belt ran onto a pulley to prevent the operator(s) hands or fingers from coming in contact with nip points.   (d) Shop Area - The Jet vertical belt sander (machine number 600) was not provided with guards at each nip point where the sanding belt runs onto a pulley to prevent the operator(s) hands or fingers from coming in contact with the nip points.   (e) Shop Area/Tool Shop Area - (immediately to the side of the Chicago Power Tool Company bench grinder) - The no name vertical belt sander was not provided with guards at each nip point where the sanding belt runs onto a pulley to prevent the operator(s) hands or fingers from coming in contact with the nip points.    In accordance with 29CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
