This General Contractor had not established an alarm system whereby subcontractor and its employees could be alerted for fire or other emergencies in this approximate 70,000 square foot, 4 story apartment building under construction. Violation observed on or about 04/01/2013.

29 CFR 1926.404(b)(1)(i): Employer did not use either ground fault circuit interrupters as specified in paragraph (b)(1)(ii) of this section, or an assured equipment grounding conductor program as specified in paragraph (b)(1)(iii) of this section to protect employees on construction sites. a) 125 Dunnell Road, Throughout the 4 Story Building Under Construction, Maplewood, NJ. Subcontractor workers were exposed to electric shock as the branch circuit outlets in the building used to plug in temporary power cords which powered portable tools were not provided with GFCI protection. Violation observed on or about 04/01/2013.
