29 CFR 1910.138(a): General requirements. Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) At the establishment, an employee used powder coat to include, but not limited to, 10-1008 Corvel and 30-7452A Corvel Medium Gloss Black H powder coat containing Triglycidyl Isocyanurate, a chemical that can be absorbed into the body through the skin. The employee was not protected by the use of chemical resistant gloves exposing the employee to contact hazards.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer shall maintain in the workplace copies of the required material safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical, and shall ensure that they are readily accessible during each work shift to employees when they are in their work area(s). (Electronic access, microfiche, and other alternatives to maintaining paper copies of the material safety data sheets are permitted as long as no barriers to immediate employee access in each workplace are created by such options.) a) At the establishment, the material safety data sheets (MSDS) for powder coating materials were not kept up to date. The information on the MSDSs for 30-7452A Corvel Medium Gloss Black and 10-1008 Corvel had been updated to include additional warnings indicating that the chemical was toxic and could cause serious damage to the eyes.
