29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a)Outside behind the building- Employees were exposed to an amputation hazard when the two bag masonry mixer was unguarded near the motor and blades on or about April 4, 2013. b) Production Area-The lower portion of the blade of the miter saw used by employees to cut wood was not guarded in that the guard was screwed tightly to the saw and did not automatically cover the portion of the blade above the wood being cut on or about April 4, 2013. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
