OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to struck by hazards.  Job site located at 2400 G Street, South Sioux City, NE 68776-The company is using a overhear hoist in the maintenance  area to maneuver loads and equipment in the maintenance area.  The hook on the overhead hoist did not have the safety latch in place to ensure the load does not slip off the hook during an unpredictable shift or quick stop of the equipment.    Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods of abatement are:     1) Ensure that the hooks on all overhead hoist ae installed and maintained in serviceable conditions.     2) Develop and implement an inspection protocol pertaining to the overhead hoists in the facility to ensure the          hoists are kept in servicable conditions at all times.

29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4): Work rests. On offhand grinding machines, work rests shall be used to support the work. They shall be of rigid construction and designed to be adjustable to compensate for wheel wear. Work rests shall be kept adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one-eighth inch to prevent the work from being jammed between the wheel and the rest, which may cause wheel breakage. The work rest shall be securely clamped after each adjustment. The adjustment shall not be made with the wheel in motion.  Job site located at 2400 G Street, South Sioux City, NE 68776-The employer allowed employees to use a pedistal grinder in the maintenance area of the facility without having the work rest adjusted within 1/8 of an inch of the wheel.
