29 CFR 1910.24(h): Standard railings were not provided on the open sides of all exposed stairways and stair platforms: RIG #8; On or about March 4, 2013 the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from falling when working on a work-over rig. a) The stairway leading up to the rig's platform was not properly guarded with standard railing. The platform's stairway railing did not extend its entirety leaving a 1 foot gap on each side. This condition exposed employees to fall hazards above 7.5 feet. b) The stairway leading up to the rig's catwalk (rig's side platform) was not properly guarded with standard railing. The stairway's railing did not extend its entirety leaving a gap of 2 feet on one side. The stairway was equipped with only one guard rail. This condition exposed employees to fall hazards above 4.5 feet.
