Employees were exposed to falls of up to 11 feet to the ground below from the tubular welded frame scaffold given a possible structural collapse of the scaffold as all 4 scaffold uprights did not bear on baseplates and were supported with concrete blocks, which is not an adequate foundation Violation observed on or about 03/13/2013.

29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1)(vi): Each employee performing overhand bricklaying operations from a supported scaffold was not protected from falling from all open sides and ends of the scaffold (except at the side next to the wall being laid) by the use of a personal fall arrest system or guardrail system (with minimum 200 pound toprail capacity). a) 449 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, West Orange, NJ. Masons involved in bricklaying operations were exposed to falls of 11 feet, 3 inches to the interior floor below from the tubular welded frame scaffold's upper tier as the scaffold was not provided with guardrails or other forms of fall protection on the side which was adjacent to the wall being laid. Violation observed on or about 03/13/2013.
