OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees from falling loads (crushing).   (a)  The employer did not ensure that the Michigan, 5 Ton, gantry crane was not taken out of service to make needed repairs after a periodic inspection revealed the following deficiencies that affected the safe operation of the underhung hoist and other critical components: worn sheaves, damaged lower block, lubrication needed, brakes inaccessible for inspection and missing bridge bumpers.   (b)  The employer did not ensure that the Michigan, 5 Ton, gantry crane was inspected for defective critical components on at least a frequent (monthly) basis.
